For most of the days since mid-December we have had record or near record overnight lows. I've worn out my ice scrapper clearing my truck windows every morning. For the last week the lows have been within a degree or two of record low while the afternoons have been within a couple of degrees of record highs. Now it is raining and the rain is expeced to hang around through the weekend, although it is expected to be spotty and light.
About the same here, only I didn't wear out any scrapers. I hope we don't start missing those daytime highs too much. I think I must be getting old because for the first time in my life I begin to have fantasies of basking in the tropics. I mean, when I stop contemplate these anomalies, I am still quick to note that a frozen place with lots of geothermal heating, like Iceland, still seems vastly preferable to me, but, still, it's weird to catch myself thinking of the tropics at all.I think Mister North and Duane are both rolling their eyes at us over this nonsense, but, well, if they'd ever lived in California for even a little while, they'd probably understand.
For almost two winters here we've had well above average teams and little snow....these past two days have been the coldest since early 2011. Still little snow though.
Looks as though you could do some fancy stuff with a garden hose right about now though. Looking at those Chicago fire hoses I started getting some wild ideas!
