One of the reasons I get so mad about "nonprofit" "preservation" organizations hyperbolizing about some truly not-so-pristine watersheds is that this is the ultimate measure of our depravity. The feds just this last summer made a pass on fighting wildfires that directly impact the limping populations of wild, natural, recoverable healthy food, and now are clearing GMO salmon for your consumption.

I would say "our" consumption, except for I won't eat salmon anymore. Most times you CANNOT trust the label "wild" on your salmon, even if you could afford it, and whenever you cave in to eating farmed salmon because the price is just too damn temptingly low to pass up, you, if you have ANY measure of sensitivity, immediately regret wasting your money on something you cannot force your throat to swallow. So add, now, a GMO version, and you might not even be able to trust it if you caught that fucker yourself!

You might even be looking at the poisoning of bears and eagles and ospreys and... and... and....

I'm going to be extremely gracious and remind you that there is a remote possibility our scientists have created a salmon that is as healthy or even healthier than the original wild stock. That's A possibility. Another is that, even if it isn't healthy, it isn't unhealthy either. But the bulk of the range of possibilities has to go for This Is A Mistake Of Cosmic Proportions.

I can't even advise you to go out and enjoy the last of our salmon, because we've probably already seen it, and if we have not, we need EVERY one of the survivors and hope they're not attracted to droid salmon.

I think I should try to find some of this instead.

always and any time....
