So I'm here strung between competing impulses. He probably did NOT land on the moon, or if he did it WAS NOT as advertised, and Neil deGrasse Tyson would know that if he were anywhere near who he's made out to be. Still, even if Mitchell were only up there fucking off in low earth orbit, or moon orbit, while they showed us a Kubrick film, he could have said that with perfect sincerity, inserting only one not-salient-to-the-point fib.
