Just ordinary venal like everyone else and trying to make the world a better place. Poor politicians do not understand the implications of their altruistic enterprises. Never mind we're talking a Rhodes Scholar and both of them with law degrees from Yale. They're just regular people with no idea how influence peddling could be deemed corrupt.
