The Orleans Complex fires were burning for nearly a week before they decided on "active suppression" and put together the crews. I'm glad, and I'm grateful, but I'm still disgusted by the performance of these so-called experts.

I have always loathed the term "forest management", insisting that there can be no such thing, but yea, though they walk through the valley of filing cabinets, this stuff is a no brainer... yet they're "planning" on daily reconnaissance flights only now?

Well, and maybe instead of renting out their lookout towers to hikers and off-roaders they might think about employing lookouts to inhabit them again? You know? And wouldn't that be more cost-effective? Just a thought.
