So you can see why it may get worse than just smoke. I might even have to bug out if the fog doesn't stick around. Generally, when it's killer hot inland, we're socked in here, but not always and it will break every few days and then build back up again. Probably won't get here, but it very seriously might.

That's me down there in the lefthand lower corner, between Crescent City and Brookings, and I'm well within the "unhealthy" air zone. And my evacuation alert is to be ready to evacuate. Which means I need to pack up all the books that MUST NOT be burned and be able to fit them and my electronics, some clothes and me into my car.

I'm thinking I'll ask my friend to put her teenage son on alert to come help me get all this done. Level 2 is only three miles from me, and Level Three is actually only about three and a half miles from me. But the fire perimeter is still nine miles off. Despite the bad air, most of the smoke is supposed to blow east today, and that means also the wildfire runs will be on the east side... mostly. I mean, wind helps, but fire likes fuels as much as it likes wind... and I think the fuels situation on our side of this monster isn't optimal for our prospects.

The National Guard has come to help keep the fire line to block it from hitting Brookings, but that doesn't say anything about blocking it from flanking Brookings, and the wind is against me from tomorrow maybe into the weekend
The upper level ridge responsible for the recent hot and very dry weather is in the process of breaking down, as a weak and dry cold front approaches the Oregon coast. This system will deepen the marine layer tonight, with low clouds and/or fog likely to become widespread for all but the highest elevations of the fire. At the very least, good humidity recoveries are expected tonight. Moisture associated with the deep marine layer is expected to linger into Wednesday, then increasing North to Northeast winds will dry out the region Wednesday night through Friday.
So I'm wondering what the fuck they are doing about it coming into California. If they've got crews working along the border or maybe more National Guard to suppress behind the greater Smith River area.
