on the one hand, i can't blame them

But on the other, I blame them loooong prison sentences kind of blame. The short and short of it is that the PNW has SO many fires it's a wonder anything is being done, weather conditions-wise it looks good for the fire at the head of the Winchuck drainage not getting strong enough to blow down to my house unless Indian Summer hits pretty soon, but I still hate these bastards for their shit "updates" and lagging and ignored "daily" fire maps.

I agree completely that putting out or controlling fires away from killing humans is more important than updating the public, but it does NOT require attention away from the job at hand to keep the public updated. Their offices are fully staffed with non-fighter personnel and access to high tech ways to keep all the fire scenes current on the internet.

The fires in California are updating — with unhappy news — regularly. There's no excuse for this.

I have to go back down to Crescent City today. I'm going to stop in at the Cal Fire station.

LATE UPDATE
