The Chetco Bar Fire is not out. It's still backing and creeping and they've stopped posting daily fire maps since the 1st... though the little fingers pointing in my direction are getting spikier on the ArcGIS map. But:
...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM PDT THIS
AFTERNOON

* WIND...North to Northeast 20 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
Wind decreasing in the afternoon.

* HUMIDITY...Overnight recoveries between 25 and 50 percent with
Daytime minimum humidity between 7 and 19 percent.

* HIGHEST THREAT...Most critical areas of concern across exposed
ridges and through wind-aligned drainages.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
most of Northern California and Southern Oregon are at the point where a spark of insight could start burning shit down.

Luckily, my hair is only smoldering right now, and so my trip to down to Crescent City to get court documents on their way to my personal hell isn't likely to make anything more than some smoke... but if the overnight guy from UPS won't be picking up today, I have a long drive ahead of me and the flames will be licking out the windows and moonroof of my space age go cart.

pipe up any time....
