There are more ways to solve this answerless question now on the table than one can accurately shake a stick at. This one's just as crappy as the rest. I think the genesis of this problem was that we had always been a really wonderfully liberal conservative state. We were just plain born and raised tolerant, and accepting of each other.
Then every weirdo and money-hungry psychopath from just about everywhere else took advantage our paradisiacal tolerance until their power over us was too complete to combat successfully. All those decades of university mental superiority conditioning doomed us to perpetual leadership by smug idiots who can't tell they're not cut out for leadership, who can only act like they are some kind of powerful job title in public, and that's the extent of their competence.
