I wonder if it will do ANY good. I know it sounds jaded, but I've ceased being gobsmacked by the level of dishonesty drilling it into our heads that Russia is evil, that Putin is evil. If you are disinclined to believe the government and their publicity organs, it's easier to tell when they are lying, and as has been pointed out many, many times over the years, the safest rule of thumb is to take what they say to mean its opposite and you will be closer to the mark than just taking it as true.
If it's of any geopolitical significance, they're lying, always. In Russia, they go out of their way never to lie, but they also go out of their way to be so diplomatic you know they're not telling you everything. Much as I hate diplomacy, it's much more refined than baldfaced lying.
