Sorry. Especially now, being such a devoted Ear Hustle listener, I need to vent a bit about this thing hardly anyone ever questions... this thing about being SO rigid about punishing miscreants. Weirdly, San Quentin, a place where we still kill people, has turned into the paradise prison of America... a place where the inmates get a chance to develop a productive and useful and creative future for themselves... a place with a high probability of taking in felons and spitting out good citizens.
Except, of course, when we spit out corpses....
