How can we be so mean after all we've done to help them make their own better lives at home? Nobody anywhere is having a better life without active measures — in place — to make that happen. That should have been the lesson to humanity from the founders of our nation, but, weirdly, it doesn't seem to have turned out that way.
It's true that there's been a concerted effort to weaken that out of any ability to inspire people, but the traces remain and it is up to each of us — wherever we are — to live up to them.
