macgregor — i think he's wrong about putin's motives in that putin has been stolid in his adherence to his original war aims, which never included wiping ukraine off the map, but rather wiping the nazis off ukraine's map — he wanted the ukrainian russians to be able to be russians again [if they chose, and they have chosen] and he wanted the ukrainians, minus nazis, to continue on in the eastern part of their former territory — which is OPTIMAL as a buffer zone between russia and nato — he wanted to keep that big wide superhighway into russia from europe free of nato incursions — that might end up having been a pipedream, but it was a nice one....
