The lies are so thick and heedless of consequences that the consequences keep coming back to slap them in the face, and, of course, they view it as nothing more lies can't fix. They've been doing this lying about deaths thing for quite a while now, and there are people who know the precise truth and tell it. It's just a matter of finding them. Borzzikman is a really good source for little distillations of the overall problem.
There are the windbags out there who also get the truth in, whatever formatting of pixels it takes, but this fellow, who uses the fake voicing for his videos, is really good for distilling it down to bare bones.
