i'm listening to the three-hour lecture now

...

It's the condensed version of a nineteen-hour presentation... and I'm beginning to wish I could have the whole thing. I'd spend this whole accursed day on it.

There's a link to the playlist I'm using directly below the embed on Henrik's post.

This is really fascinating stuff. What a unique thinker. I know, I know, you assholes, you don't have the time for this, blahdeeblahdeeblah, but HERE is just a snippet of it. Don't be confused by his terms. This isn't about God and the Devil. It's a quasi-spiritual, quasi-scientific, quasi-mathematical, quasi-engineering, completely unique approach to making sense of life, the universe and everything. I'm not done with this, but I don't think he's going to conclude with forty-two....

A comment from one of the vids in the playlist:
He seems to be on the right track with some stuff... and way off track with the rest. Its a shame, as his presentations may be rendered nonsense, and the research that's valuable will be overlooked.
I'm thinking the same thing.

There are strokes of pure genius in this, but he gets ridiculous all over the place... which makes this excellent fodder for the great thought experimenting we have going here to turn us all into ascended buddhas....

...

Bottom line, for bottom liners, is that only those with pure hearts ascend from hell. He goes through all kinds of fantastic Mesoamerican and Peruvian and Egyptian and Chinese glyphs and carvings on transparencies he can turn around according to the legends on the edges of the original works and come up with clues to little-to-not-understood astrophysical phenomena, contends that Jesus was reincarnated all over the place to show the way to ascend, and, crucially, by when we are supposed to accomplish this... those thorny extinction level events.... Even though this is the heavily condensed version, I feel fairly secure that he feels he has decoded the one basis for all the religions and belief systems in history.

It does seem to mean that anyone prone to kneejerk whenever religion is mentioned, as I started to above, will not take much away from this. Part of my continually warning about just hearing people as though they are telling you the gospel, while you're listening, lets you end up seeing the sense in whatever nonsense they are speaking. Another helpful clue for those prone to this particular trigger to close their ears is to remember that religion has been made of it, doesn't mean that is what it is. It only means that is what people make of it, what they call it, what they call the world. As we see everywhere around us, what things are called is NOT what they ARE.

Anyway, right near the beginning, Cotterell explains what's going on with the sun. It's riveting. The rest of it might leave nearly everyone in the dust, but the first part is highly edifying to anyone not satisfied with the complete bollox that passes for understanding now.

HERE is his website.

HERE is the bucket of ice water he throws on all the 2012 hopefuls....
