It is the mechanism of superstition. If pressed really hard to say for sure, I am almost certain I would pronounce the existence of an antiradioactivity device. I can't go to the alternative notion of them not caring because they are leaving the planet, because no one would want to leave it. Plenty want to leave this world, but there is a difference of planetary proportions between wanting to leave this world and wanting to kill this planet.
