Don't get me wrong. I don't give a fig for the papacy. I have thought the whole concept to be idiotic since I first learned of it. No. Really. Outright idiotic. I don't care how many people are insulted. It's just stupid. And part of my lack of patience with the whole trip is the fact that these guys, supposedly laden with heavy responsibilities, was that they don't step down when they're too infirm to actually bear up under any responsibility.
I remember when my dad swore off driving. My mother was livid. Livid. I was bowled over with admiration.
