Is almost insurmountable. First, it has to be GOOD. But then everybody also has to love you personally. That's why it's something like bullshit to put any stock in the Academy Awards... except, of course, for the spectacular wages after you've won one.
The world is pretty much like that. Talent only gets you in front of them, whoever the pertinent them might be, and the rest of it is about whether they want to fit you into their society. No matter what the situation. It's the same with big name lawfirms as it is with movies. It's the same in politics and art. Sure, if you get some professional degree or other you are almost certain to be able to work in that field... somehow... and a select few manage to brazen their way to success without the support of their peers... but mostly you are only going to wind up on top if they let you.
