Twitter being the leading edge of pushbutton revolution technology, the go-to source for blatant propagandistic balderdash, monstrously antagonistic disinformation, this is a great move. I almost could not believe any country would let it function within their borders. It is bad enough that it functions without all the destabilization specialists at it. It's ambrosia for stalkers and government agencies. But we have watched it get a lot of people killed. We have watched it being used by the State Department in ugly international incidents.
It was a leap forward from the texting craze with kids. We saw that generate a fascist regime in the Ukraine and fantastical mobs at Obama rallies, but Twitter enhances that networking capability so that it does not just go between circles of friends. Now anybody can get into anybody's circle without even asking. And you can't track it. A propagandist's wet dream.
I have been wondering for a long time why there have not been more base closings and embassy closings and social media blockings in places where it is clear they are involved in destabilization efforts. I know it is the better part of valor not to piss off the Americans, but, even so, it is so blatant now. It is so clear that going along with that action is at least as lethal as cutting it off.
Bravissimo, President Putin.
