You better NOT be placing total faith in those maps! Note the date on that. YESTERDAY. Today's map doesn't show the fire even near enough to Pope Valley for that shot... but... this is proof it's worse than the maps are showing.

Bullsh, as Tony would say, how small could it have been if it was there yesterday and not put out till today? Or are they just keeping the planes soaking the top of Pope Valley to help the fire go somewhere else?
That might be it, because the strip north of 128 there is all vineyards and the strip north of those vineyards but south of today's map perimeter is all dense mixed conifer and hardwood scrub, loaded to the skies with bone dry fuels, except where it's been completely cleared for the construction of fancy estates.
So, it could be that they're just flying over that whole strip and soaking it over and over, with spot fires springing up wherever they've missed. That entire area is a choo-choo train of tourists every year and that county line that runs right through the middle of that gentrifying scrub is the demarcation between serious mega-money and plain mostly poor folk.
Not that I want Napa to burn, but there is a distinct disconnect between the laws of physics and what's being reported in the media. That is getting on my nerves in a big way.

Cal Fire updated total acreage to 67,000 this morning and tonight they upgraded it to 67,200? It gained just 200 acres today? Isn't that a bit weird?
Have I been playing too much Calvinball?
always and any time....
