Apropos of nothing, I guess, thought I might mention it's 80º here right now, but I'm not dying because the humidity is very low. I mean, I don't like it. I'm not comfortable, but the humidity thing makes a huge difference in survivability of heat waves.
Thing is, everybody's gone all sanguine about all the lightning fires that have wound down from a week of cooler temperatures, higher humidity and even some rain. Then there were four sunny days of very high winds every afternoon to dry things up again very neatly, and now it's hot with very low humidity and there's every reason to expect those quiescent fires to go bonkers again.
But I guess no one wants to think about that on the holiday....
