palaver about spiritual awakening is everywhere

Ayahuasceros raking in the dough. People in Sedona gaga for "shamangelic" breathing. Really expensive charlatan-led Buddhist meditation retreats fill up fast. The array of outrageously expensive yoga wear and accessories is downright dazzling... and all natural... all organic. Millions of miserable people are flocking to spiritual entertainments anywhere they can find them, and those who can't afford them at least sport dreadlocks or beads.
One of capitalism's greatest growth areas in this day of terrified livestock looking for anything that might distract from their terror is the much-heralded "upgrade" the multifarious space aliens from all quadrants of the universe came to witness back in 2012. We didn't exactly feel it, but it became the reason for our sinus headaches and bodily complaints, our insomnia, our neuralgia, our inability to connect with the people around us. They were symptoms of ascension.
But.
Well.
Not exactly. We decided we just need to try harder.
More expensive supplements, with all the latest discoveries of beneficial ingredients, no sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg, shellfish or preservatives. UFO Experiencer Conferences. UFO Researcher Conferences. UFO Gazing Ranches. Nazi Gold. Crystals. Ethical investing. More spiritual podcasts and websites. More retreats. More charlatans.
There's no pill for it. You can't buy it. It isn't something you can attend. Or wear. Memorizing it is worse than useless. It's downright lethal. And no matter how intense a hint you might ever get from a psychedelic, it won't ultimately do the trick. There is absolutely no substitute for doing the work. You have to do the work, no matter how hard you work to get around it.
I hear more and more people dissing the great mystical schools of antiquity. On the one hand, I can hardly blame them, they're so full of utterly clueless charlatans. Nice ones who don't even know they're charlatans, or the standard charlatan, mox nix. But on the other, it makes me want to scream and rip things to shreds.
You have no idea what went into handing down that wisdom through the centuries, precisely so you would have a way out of this hell if your heart was true enough to follow it. Geniuses nesting hints in koan so no idiots could erase the path to awakening from the sight of suffering sentient beings. Geniuses giving every waking hour to perfecting translations so as to keep that original intent available to the living. Completely anonymous adepts steering people away from destruction and toward true life.
For the millionth time, all those precepts and injunctions against fun stuff and toward dull stuff are just about helping you get your mind and ego oriented in such a way as to facilitate the crucial insight for awakening. Once you've gotten that, all that "religious mumbo jumbo" is as delusory as a tv show.
Once you've gotten that, and after the transcendent bliss of it wears off, you don't turn into this serene, unflappably happy little darling the world adores and for whom everything comes without effort. The natural faculties of real humans start showing up. You stop being a slave and start having your own true life. You become able to be seen and heard by those with true hearts.
You become what the psychopaths have been working for centuries to prevent arising.
always and any time....
