Those times you suddenly feel uneasy right out of the blue? Your nose has picked up death molecules. It accounts for why I stopped dead in my tracks about fifteen feet from my car one night and could only bring myself a few feet nearer and had to get a man to go check it for me, when some kids had dumped a thirty-gallon compost can of fish guts into the driver's seat of my convertible. It was all fresh from a restaurant and didn't stink yet. I didn't think I'd smelled it, but, well, I guess I smelled it.
