Did they ever even consult with the Cascadia people? Or the State of Jefferson people? Or the guys who want to secede as a whole state? This is getting very murky. Maybe New California would do better to lop off the top and northwestern-most counties, so The State of Jefferson can do their thing, and Cascadia, a brand new country, can declare war on them to reclaim its south coastal zone from the United States.
Otherwise, there will be a civil war between Jefferson and New California.
