I admit I'm pretty slow on the wild ideas sometimes, but it just struck me that perhaps all these elongated skulls we're finding are those of Enlil's and Enki's first attempts to genetically modify themselves up some slaves. I mean, according to the Sumerian accounts, their first try produced slaves who were too smart to stay enslaved and they had to go back to the drawing board to come up with us... dumb enough to be tricked into performing for them....
