Sick of tyranny, they rose up. So "we" decided not to let another domino fall and 58,000 of us died to keep South Vietnam from losing its freedom. Never mind that they had not died in vain until Democratic Party politicians halted the aid they needed to keep the communists out. There's another lesson here.
Notice how our best advice to the South Vietnamese was to RAISE THE PROSPECTS FOR THE PEASANTRY so they wouldn't help the Viet Cong overthrow their government. So it's NOT as though the PTB don't know EXACTLY what makes for a healthy and happy democratic republic, now IS it?
