Because I'm just a "conspiracy theorist" but seems to me that most of this is due to purposely extremely poor water management practices and the billionaires' interest in snapping up agricultural properties. People being outright bribed and terrified into getting the fuck out while the getting is good. I've been up here in my little corner of the state thinking how nice it is we're finally having coastal summers like the ones I remember from fifty years ago, while the media are barking about weather armageddon at the tops of their lungs.
