I will have to clamp down on my groceries even further. I'm telling you, even in California, where we are mercifully fully covered for all our medical, us old people are NEVER off the edge of our own personal cliffs. One big enough disaster, which is to say, not a very big one, and we're HOMELESS.
Eating only food-flavored plastic, which never would happen in Russia, doesn't even lower our grocery bills enough to inch us back from that gut-wrenching ledge.
