Well, there certainly are LOT of crappy movies floating around out there. They've been hammering on us for a loooong time. That would seem to me to mean there ARE rules for becoming and staying a movie star. Maybe there's still only a percentage of your work that has to punch the public's brains in with certain narratives, but it's a fat enough percentage that it's blinking neon.

I feel the need to mention that the Gabriel Byrne mini-series from TWELVE years ago I linked yesterday was maybe one you didn't want to miss... if only for the precision of its narrative to the one Crassus-Caligula is laboring under right now.
