I took some flak yesterday for suggesting more trees than we think might make it through this fire, and I am well aware that sometimes trees don't know they're dead for a week or two after a fire, but I also know that plenty times a very fast fire can race through and leave most of the trees almost completely unscathed. So, since the first day of this fire was almost as fast as lightning, the initial burn areas are going to have a pretty good tree survival rate... considering.
It's the ones where the burning has slowed that are gone.
