This image is a good approximation of what's burning down in Lake County right now. It hasn't been burning even 24 hours yet and it's already covered more ground than all the Six Rivers fires up here have burned in six weeks. For those unfamiliar with the area, this link can give you a good idea of what's being consumed so quickly and completely right this very now.
Despite all the lakes in the area, it is terrifyingly dry and hot at least half the year, even when there's no drought, and just plain ugly and bad energy for most of the other half.
I pretty much hate the whole area and have for most of my life, despite how beautiful it is in the early spring. In the early spring everything is green and lush and the array of wildflowers like to explode your eyesight from beauty and your lungs from yelling about it.
But the rest of the time, say ten and a half months of each year, bad juju in my book.
Mostly it's the people there who do this to me... and mostly it's the people there who wrecked the environment to the extent that only early spring brings the hint of what was once all of it, all the time. There is a clashing between wealth and poverty there that never relents. The hate waffles up off every surface with the heat.
Every time I'm there I gaze out over the countryside unable to keep my brain from working furiously to figure out on what plane of existence I might command armies of habitat restoration slaves.
And now this.
I wanted the slaves so this wouldn't happen.
Kym is again waaay more on top of it than anyone going. She's a miracle and a hero.
always and any time....
